Enrichment opportunities listed by chapter

 

CHAPTER 1- Research James Madison and the Virginia Plan he drafted.  Type a 1 pg summary of your research.

CHAPTER 2- Research the advantages and disadvantages of colonial life and decide whether they would choose to live in colonial times or not.  This activity needs to have a 1 page summary of details and your opinion to receive bonus points.

CHAPTER 3-Research and write a brief report comparing the United States Constitution with the constitutions of other nations.  Focus on points such as length, time in use, and values reflected in the documents. (1-2 pages in length)

CHAPTER 4- Investigating court cases: Research one of the following cases, Fletcher v. Peck or Missouri vs. Holland, to find the essential facts of the case, central issue, and the Supreme Court's decision.  You can put your findings on a poster.

CHAPTER 5- Create a "Who's Who" handbook of members of Congress from our state.  For each representative, included background information, length of service, committee or subcommittee membership, and major accomplishments while in office.

CHAPTER 6-  Do you know the presidents?  Create a flip chart/story book on each president including their political party, birth state, and date range of presidency.  List one accomplishment of their presidency or something they were known for either good or bad.  Up to 30 bonus points available

CHAPTER 7- Complete the 'Debating the Issues' activity  on page. 205.
